Workgroups

WORKGROUP VOLUNTEERING:  

A vital aspect of the smooth running of KCLC is the commitment by all members to volunteer in some way at the Centre. Our members choose their volunteer task within a Workgroup according to their interests – we only ask that you turn up with a smile!

Exemptions are given to members in ill health.  By the way, old age is not regarded as ill health – our oldest volunteer is well over 90!

Artwork Workgroup

Production of promotional materials

  • Work BEFORE TERM for external publicity and prior to Enrolment Day each semester. Must be available on holidays.
  • Work IN TERM for Open Day, Centre Lunches, Tutors Dinner, Melbourne Cup, General Meetings, AGM and in house posters.

Centre Luncheons Task Group

  • Set up reception room for dining room
  • Prepare food as required
  • Serve food and drink buffet style
  • Clean and dining room
  • Wash dishes and put away glasses

Do not put your name down if you have a class to attend.

 Clean Craft Room Workgroup

Working with Pottery Tutors

  • Wash down floor
  • Clean tables, chairs, benches & shelves
  • Clean pottery wheels and all other equipment
  • Clean and seal off Pug Mill
  • Stock take given list of major equipment items

 Computer System Maintenance Workgroup

(Note:  A high level of computing knowledge/skills is essential)

This workgroup entails:

  • Update computers on a regular basis
  • Back up Systems
  • Update server
  • Test restore processes
  • Clean up system regularly

Cooking for Centre Lunches 2017

  • Supply a plate of finger food to supplement the food provided by the people attending.  (Centre lunches are a “bring a plate” affair but sometimes there isn’t enough. Your contribution will help!)

Cottage Care Workgroup

FOR ONE MONTH ONLY (AUGUST, SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, NOVEMBER) WEEKLY DUTY (1 person for each month per duty)

  • Vacuum cottage at midday
  • Sweep kitchen floor at end of day
  • Sweep veranda & cobwebs
  • Sweep path to outside toilet
  • Sweep paths between buildings and car park
  • Wipe tables sink and kitchen benches
  • Wipe top of stove and window sills
  • Wipe out fridge
  • Clean window above sink
  • Clean coffee cup shelf and check for dirty/damaged ones
  • Wipe down dryer and hand basin in toilet
  • Check and refill tea, coffee, and sugar
  • Wash tea towels and replace with clean ones

Creche

Emergency Roster Workgroup

For short notice Emergency:   You will be called in to assist in the crèche.

Times Needed: 9:30 – 12:00pm & 12:30-3:00pm                                                                                        

8 week course = 1 duty

  • Cleaning all the toys in the crèche

Open, operate, and close exchange               11:30 am – 1:00 pm

  • Minor maintenance to equipment and building
  • Handy man skills, access to own tools, access to own work shop may be necessary sometimes

Minutes Secretary

  • Take minutes at weekly meetings on a Friday morning 10am usually to about 11am, general meeting/AGM
  • Record Minutes and Motions clearly and concisely
  • Include ACTION list as required
  • Prepare 3 copies of each minutes plus all attachments and reports
  • Use own or Centre’s computer
